Practicing my poker face

Well the train arrived in Osceola only a few minutes behind schedule. While there were several groups of people in addition to the large Gridiron Club contingent, it seemed like almost everyone who boarded the train with us was headed to Denver for the football game.

As soon as the train pulled out from Osceola the conductor announced it was last call in the dining car, so a group of us headed that way for dinner. My idea of dining cars stems lately from “White Christmas” and various Cary Grant movies. It seems counterintuitive to have a sit-down meal with white table clothes and fresh flowers while riding mass transit, but also happily nostalgic.

The Gridiron club has been relegated to the last car, hopefully not because there are Hawkeyes further up. They’ve already dimmed the lights for sleeping, but I don’t get the impression everyone in the group is interested in that. I heard something about poker. Stay tuned.
