Melvin Ejim, an incoming Iowa State freshman, was named MVP of the Capital City League, a summer basketball league in Des Moines.

Bubu Palo, an Ames High graduate who was an ISU redshirt freshman last season, was named MVP of the playoffs.

Ejim, a 6-foot-6 forward, averaged 28 points, 12 rebounds and two steals per game. He is the first player in the league’s seven-year history to lead the league in all three categories (points, rebounds, steals).

Palo’s Medical Oncology and Hematology Associates team won the league title. Palo, a 6-1 guard, scored 24 points on 7-of-16 shooting to go with seven rebounds in the championship game.
