Long suspended after arrest

Iowa State wrestler Andrew Long has been suspended for 10 percent of next season’s matches after being arrested last weekend, Cyclone wrestling coach Kevin Jackson announced Friday.

Long was arrested at on charges of public intoxication and possession of a fake ID at about 3 a.m. Sunday morning, according to Ames police records.

“We are a disappointed with Andrew Long's poor decisions and consistent with department policy, he will be suspended from 10 percent of our matches next season,” Jackson said in a statement. “I reserve the right to take additional disciplinary action at a later time. We understand how something like this affects not only our wrestling program, but Andrew and his family.”

Long was runner-up at 125 pounds the NCAA wrestling championships in March.
