DES MOINES - Harrison Barnes made his second, and last, appearance at this summer’s Capital City basketball league on Wednesday, having returned from the Paul Pierce Skills Academy in Boston just that afternoon but heading to LeBron James’ Skills Academy over the weekend.

Barnes scored 42 points in the summer league contest, although his team, which included future ISU players Chris Colvin and Alex Dorr, lost 110-101 to a team led by Cyclones Marquis Gilstrap, LaRon Dendy and Dominique Buckley.

After the game, Barnes outlined his plan for narrowing his list of potential colleges from 12 to one.

“So far the only thing I know is I’ll make my decision after my official visits,” Barnes said. “I don’t know if I’ll sign in the early period or the late period.”

The NCAA allows each high school senior to make five official visits during his or her senior year; the host college pays all of an athlete’s expenses during an official visit. So far this summer, though, Barnes has made unofficial visits to a number of schools including UCLA, Stanford, Duke, North Carolina. He also visited Minnesota and Kansas while participating in AAU tournaments this spring.

“I’ll probably start to cut my list down a little bit after the summer, after the AAU season is over,” Barnes said. “Now whether I’ll cut it to five or not, I’m not sure.”
